I’ve had a dabble with quite a few and I will admit Ableton had a very straight forward approach. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and depending on your tech savvy Yay or Nay, the complexity of deciding “what is good” what is easy?” Will deter you away immediately. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself and then sit there with 4 daws and tons of Plug ins bought and nothing to make of it. since some are better than others, etc.įor simplicity. Now I won’t go into “expandable” versions of DAWS that’s when you buy up scales priced versions that come with softwares, plug ins and tools. a Daw is the workplace or the laboratory you will get the work done. Think of which oil paints an artist uses to illustrate their story. Many different learning curves and a DAW shouldn’t be more than a preference.

But like most others are saying you just kind of have to go which one you like the look of and feels most comfortable and just stick with it and learn it. Because I've tried to do be production on Reaper as well and working that Grid in my opinion so hard and I've seen other daws essentially make it brainless the the way you can line up samples/drum patterns and so on. I don't remember and I'm sure it's not cemented but it is a good way to kind of think about it and approach. Reaper being live music another one being for electronic and another one being for hip hop style. I once read a breakdown of all the daws and what style of music they sort of lend themselves to. Reaper is more geared towards live instrumentation. But to be honest I don't think it would lend itself as well to beat production. I only ended up paying the 60 bucks because I used to it for years and I just wanted to show some support. I picked Reaper and stuck with it because it was free. I think mixcraft is great to start off with but as you get better jumping over to flstudio is just natural progression.

BEST DAW FOR MAC REDDIT HOW TO
If think it's great to start of with, I don't really know about most people but I started with using nothing but samples and loops and started making stuff with what I thought worked and didn't work and because of this, I learned arrangement and composition fairly quickly, of which mixcraft is great for.Īnd as i started to learn how to make my music I released the loops weren't doing what I wanted so I then started making my own, usually this was drums because i had no idea how to make pads and synths.īut then as I got better and better and making more of my own, I found the limitations of mixcraft and went to flstudio because it was just easier to make stuff.Īnd then as I got more professional with my music production, I learned how to use a mixer and automat and all that other fun stuff that mixcraft is limited in.
